I'd never heard anything by this group until Tracy introduced them to me when I came to the US in '97.

James are a Manchester group formed 1982 who went through a few line-up changes.
This album from 1993 contains 3 of our favourite tracks.
'Laid', 'Say Something' and 'Sometimes (Lester Piggott)' are up there with the best of them.
The album was produced by Brian Eno, except for the song 'One of Three'. Brian didn't like that one so they recorded it when he took a day off :)
