JETHRO TULL - Too Old to Rock 'n' Roll 1976

And we're back to Jethro Tull .. the 1976 story of Ray Lomas. aging rock star.
This wasn't a great success as an album, but for me it covered 3 main bases ..

1. It was Jethro Tull !!
2. It mentions Scotch Corner in North Yorkshire !!
3. It has motor-bikes in it !!

The main complaint was that this was a 'concept' album but the concept seemed muddled, even with a gatefold illustrated cartoon of the supposed story.
Doing the 'ton' on a motorbike meant going over 100mph. I did it on my Norton and it's a feeling like no other.

Here it is in Ian Andersons words ..

"So the old rocker gets out his bike
To make a ton before he takes his leave
Up on the A1 by Scotch Corner
Just like it used to be
And as he flies, tears in his eyes
His wind-whipped words echo the final take
And he hits the trunk road doing around a 120
With no room left to brake
And he was too old to rock 'n' roll
But he was too young to die
He was too old to rock 'n' roll
And he was too young to die"

But the last verse says it all ...

"No, you're never too old to rock 'n' roll
If you're too young to die
No, you're never too old to rock 'n' roll
But he was too young to die"
